Kids Banana Bag

Behind the Design: We partner with artisans in Rwanda who create handwoven products using natural banana, maize and palm leaves. The artisans source leaves from local farmers, or pick them themselves, and then place them under the sun to dry until they take on varying shades of brown, tan, and white (they also sometimes dye them by hand!) When the leaves are ready, the artisans twist, braid, or weave them with a needle and thread to create beautifully handmade floor baskets, bags, hats, and more.

 Impact

The artisan sector is the second largest employer in the developing world. Yet the majority of artisans are women who lack access to export markets, business skills, and the financial tools needed to run successful, global enterprises.

We are dedicated to changing that by investing 100% of our profits into education programs for the women who handcraft our products and youth in their communities. Since 2007, we've provided over 1,100 artisans and 250 young people in Rwanda & Ghana with employment opportunities, entrepreneurship training, and consistent access to the global export market.

Shipping & Returns

Your order will leave our facility via USPS within 1-2 business days of your purchase. All packages are shipped via USPS priority mail and should arrive within 3-6 business days after leaving our facility.

We want you to love our products as much as we do, that’s why if you are not completely satisfied we will gladly accept returns within 10 days of the arrival of your order. Please contact customerservice@indegoafrica.org and once we receive the returned order we will issue you a full refund. Please note that all shipping charges are non-refundable. Buyer is responsible for all return/exchange shipping costs. We reserve the right to deny a returned item should it no longer appear salable or does not meet our return standards.
